Knife Crime & Youth Violence Workshops
We have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to put together a series of workshops aimed at engaging the youth in the area in a dialogue regarding violence & knife crime. Knife Crime in particular is a prevalent issue in our community at present.
We have all seen & heard the sickening spate of knife crime attacks that have taken place recently in the local area, most of these have involved youngsters between the ages of 14 - 25yrs.
We invited Raymond Douglas to open a discussion on these issues, Raymond has done a lot of work in the Midlands with young offenders in prisons and has seen the devestation knife crime and gang culture can cause to not only those directly involved, but also their families and the wider community.
It was great to have the support of the senior teaching staff at Rockwood Academy. In partiular, we'd like to thank Ms Darr (Headteacher), Mr Saboor Ali (Pastoral Manager Head of Year 10) and Patricia De Jesus (Assistant Headteacher).
If our humble efforts deter even one child from getting involved in gangs & knife crime then it has been a huge success!
